Folio. Unpaginated, 52 reproductions of his art and photo of artist on frontispiece. Forward by Art Garden, February, 2004, in both English and Chinese. Hardcover in illustrated DJ. Boards white, fine (paper? cloth?). Beautiful dust jacked reproducing one of his pieces, spine in Chinese. Red band on top of DJ with yellow printing containing title in both English and Chinese.
Condition: Near fine. Light rubbing on rear cover, noticeable only in bright light. Chinese calligraphy on FFE in gold on a grey background, probably an inscription by the artist.
“Cui Ruzhuo (Chinese, b.1944) is a Contemporary ink painter known for his images of flowers, birds, and landscapes. Born in Beijing, Cui studied under prolific painter and calligrapher Li Kuchan. He then served as a teacher at the Academy of Arts and Design in Beijing, before moving to the United States in 1981.
“After returning to China in the mid-1990s, he worked as a mentor for doctoral students at the Chinese National Academy of Art. He also became a renowned collector, amassing hundreds of works of Chinese art.
“Cui has come to the attention of an international audience through his record-setting works at auction. In 2011, his painting Lotus achieved more than $15 million at a Christie’s auction in Hong Kong.
